Hydroseeding, Soil Stabilisation & Dust Suppression
Binder-based hydroseeding systems designed to stabilise soil, control dust, and support the establishment of seed payloads.
Binder-based systems for hydroseeding, dust suppression, and soil stabilisation
These formulations bind, penetrate, and stabilise soil while supporting regenerative hydroseeding.
Anchor seed payloads to soil substrates until germination
Agglomerate fine and ultra-fine soil particles into a stable surface matrix
Form a crusted soil foundation to improve resistance to erosion and dusting
Rewettable binders absorb dew and irrigation to regenerate the matrix after disturbance
Biodegradable while resisting rapid bacterial degradation

Hydroseeding System Design
These hydroseeding systems use active binder and surfactant chemistry to control how seed, mulch, and soil interact during the establishment phase.
Dual or triple binder systems that secure seed and soil aggregates.
Controlled wetting and homogenous distribution to ensure consistent coverage across variable substrates
Inherent compatibility with mulches, colourants, growth stimulants, seeds and fertilisers
This approach prioritises predictable behaviour during application and early germination, particularly under changing moisture conditions.

Dust Suppression Performance
Particle-binding systems designed for persistent dust control in fine soils
Dust suppression performance is achieved through controlled agglomeration of fine particles, forming a stable surface matrix rather than a brittle surface seal.<
Binding of fine and ultra-fine particles into a cohesive surface layer
Reactivation of binders in response to dew, rainfall, or irrigation
Rainfast behaviour that maintains surface stability between wetting cycles
This system design supports sustained dust control without relying on high frequency reapplication.
Soil Stabilization Approach
Substrate-penetrating stabilisation for surface integrity and erosion resistance
Soil stabilisation is achieved through penetration and binding within the upper soil layer, forming a stabilised crust that resists wind-erosion and promotes moisture-driven repair after mechanical disturbance.
Key design characteristics include:
Penetration into the soil profile to create a stabilised surface structure
Adhesion across both hydrophobic and polar soil types
Stable flow rheology to support uniform application and predictable coverage
This approach focuses on soil behaviour under real site conditions, rather than short-term surface treatment.
Consistent performance, reliable chemistry, practical application
Binder-Based Formulation Design
Active concentrate systems designed to bind soil, seed, and surface particles effectively.
Environmental Considerations
Ultimately biodegradable formulations that are non-toxic to land and aquatic biomes.
Application Efficiency
Low-volume concentrates with pre-activated chemistry, eliminating the need for dissolving powders or solids.
Proven Functional Performance
Resistant to premature UV breakdown and microbial attack, with stable performance across varying conditions.

What is VRS-2?
VRS-2 is a polymeric binder system developed for hydroseeding and soil stabilisation.
It is designed to bind seed payload while also stabilising the upper soil layer, providing a combination of film formation, surface cohesion and moisture-responsive reactivation.
VRS-2 is supplied as a pre-dissolved system, allowing it to incorporate rapidly into the hydroseeding tank-mix.
Why was VRS-2 developed?
Its design philosophy was forged in a variety of demanding conditions, where the pros and cons of existing treatment systems were assessed and the following requirements set;
The development objective was to create a binder system that could:
- Reduce logistical on-site demands usually associated with very high applications rates
- Cost effective
- Incorporate rapidly into the tank-mix giving fast turnaround times during recharge
- Negligable thickening of the tank-mix
- Low/No foam generation during tank-mix agitation
- Non toxic and safe to handle
- Reusable packaging
- Spread uniformly across the entire target surface
- Secure both seed payload and upper soil matrix
- Effective application over a wide range of temperatures
- Self-healing through tack-formation when re-wet
- No leeching from the soil
- Resistant to premature degradation by bio , climate and physical mechanisms
- Boi-degradable within the plant-establishment time-frame
Does VRS-2 increase tank-mix viscosity?
No
This removes any negative impact associated with increases in tank-mix viscosity. It allows for higher application rates , without influencing mixing, pumping and spraying .
Does VRS-2 need to be dissolved ?
No.
VRS-2 is supplied as a pre-dissolved binder system and is designed to incorporate rapidly into the tank mix.
Does VRS-2 improve wetting and spreading?
YYes.
Uniform wetting and spreading were fundamental design objectives of VRS-2.
The system is designed to distribute the binder and hydroseeding payload evenly across the target surface rather than concentrating the material into localised deposits.
Does VRS-2 secure the seed payload as well as the soil?
Yes.
VRS-2 is designed to secure the hydroseeding payload while also binding the surrounding soil surface.
What happens to VRS-2 when wet during rainfall or irrigaion?
VRS-2 is designed to respond to moisture throught its application.
When the dried soil is re-wet, VRS-2 absorbs water and regains tackiness.
This allows the treated surface to accommodate germination whilst refreshing the stabilising network in what could be describes as self-healing .
Why doesn’t VRS-2 leach from the soil when it is rewetted?
VRS-2 has been designed so that significant dissolution and migration require conditions that are not encountered g in environmental conditions.
Consequently, rainfall, dew and irrigation will not remove VRS-2 from the soil.
Does VRS-2 become softer when wet ?
Yes.
Rewetting changes the physical character of the polymer film, making it more flexible while restoring surface tack.
However the binder remains associated with the treated soil .
What happens as VRS-2 dries again?
As moisture leaves the polymer film, it will regain it’s dry physical properties.
Can VRS-2 be used at very high application rates for soil stabilisation?
Yes, where the application objective calls for a substantially more consolidated and erosion-resistant surface.
At sufficiently high binder loading, VRS-2 can provide extremely strong surface retention, under demanding conditions such a steep slopes, strong winds and heavy rainfall.
However, this illustrates an important distinction between soil stabilisation and hydroseeding.
A rate appropriate for maximum soil retention is not necessarily appropriate where immediate seed germination and emergence are also required.
Can excessive VRS-2 application affect germination?
Potentially, yes.
As with any effective soil-binding system, application rate must be matched to the intended outcome.
Higher levels of surface consolidation can provide greater soil retention, but may also create a more restrictive surface environment for emerging seedlings.
VRS-2 should therefore be selected and applied according to whether the primary objective is vegetation establishment, soil stabilisation, or an appropriate balance of both.
Can VRS-2 concentrate or tank washings be discharged into water?
No.
VRS-2 is intended for controlled soil and hydroseeding applications, not direct discharge into rivers, dams, drains or other aquatic environments.
Unused concentrate and tank or container washings must be handled and disposed of appropriately.
How long can VRS-2 be stored?
VRS-2 is supplied as a pre-dissolved system and should be stored under the recommended conditions.
For optimum performance, the current recommendation is to use the product within approximately 12–18 months of manufacture.
The current technical specification should always be consulted for storage requirements.
